DC Democratic Party Statement on Election Results

Washington, DC — Democratic values prevailed in Washington, DC. Councilmember Robert White won reelection, and Janeese Lewis George won her race for Ward 4 Councilmember. We would also like to congratulate Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton, Ward 2 Councilmember Brooke Pinto, Ward 7 Councilmember Vincent Gray, Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White, US Shadow Senator Paul Strauss, and US Shadow Representative Oye Owolewa on their wins.

We are awaiting results on the presidential race, and want to urge everyone to be patient. Do not let Trump’s authoritarian tactics distract you or dishearten you. There are still millions of votes to be counted.

Now it is time to take a breath and reflect on the work that has been done in this cycle. Tomorrow, we look forward to the elections to come in Georgia this January and Virginia in 2021. The DC Democratic Party is eager to help Rev. Raphael Warnock win his runoff race for US Senate, and to help Virginia Democrats win up and down the ballot in their elections next November.
