DC Democratic Party’s Response to The Washington Post’s Endorsements for DC Elections
WASHINGTON, DC — We are pleased with The Washington Post editorial board’s endorsements of Brooke Pinto for Ward 2 councilmember and Eleanor Holmes Norton for congress. These candidates represent their constituents well and if re-elected will continue to be staunch advocates for Democratic values and principles. We are proud to have these two women be integral members of our Party and community.
However, we disagree with The Washington Post’s choices for the two at-large council seats. Therefore it’s important that we reaffirm our support for current Councilmember Robert White for reelection. Councilmember White is the only Democrat running for the At-Large seat, and has proven to be a champion for DC residents throughout his years of leadership and service to the District. We urge all DC voters to make Councilmember Robert White your first choice when voting in the November 3 general election.
Ballots are being mailed to every registered DC voter the first week of October, so be on the lookout, and make sure to contact the DC Board of Elections with any questions or concerns. Early voting will run from Tuesday, October 27 to Monday, November 2. Election day is Tuesday, November 3. DC residents can also register to vote on the same day at any vote center. We urge everyone to vote, volunteer, and donate to Democratic campaigns. This election is too important to sit on the sidelines.
