Organizing Director
The DC Democratic Party is seeking a highly motivated Organizing Director to lead hyper-local voter engagement and grassroots mobilization across all eight wards of the District as we navigate a complex primary environment and prepare to push out into neighboring states to help elect members of Congress who will support DC’s push for statehood. This role is responsible for building and managing our community engagement strategy that engages nearly 700,000 voters during a pivotal political moment.
As the critical link between state party leadership and on-the-ground field operations, the Organizing Director ensures seamless coordination, strategic execution, and measurable results. The DC Democratic Party’s grassroots infrastructure spans every corner of the city, empowering local ward committees to drive Democratic victories in 2026 and beyond.
This position is responsible for building permanent community-based organizing infrastructure, increasing turnout in priority communities, and strengthening ward-level and citywide volunteer engagement.
Your day-to-day will consist of:

Creating a citywide organizing plan for 2026 to engage District residents, increase ward committee membership, and build a volunteer operation for the 2026 General Election.

Identify priority wards and precincts, analyzing voter data and turnout history, developing city-wide, and ward-level plans for volunteer recruitment and engagement, voter registration, persuasion, and Get-Out-The-Vote (GOTV); and advising state party leadership on what’s happening locally.

Manage relationships with; and coordinate and communicate engagement and outreach efforts with Party leadership, ward organizations, Democratic clubs, local civic organizations, Unions, advocacy groups, and community-based groups.

Provide strategic input for Party events, issue advocacy, and communications.

Train ward chairs or designees on how to use VoteBuilder to increase engagement with constituents.

Recruit and coach a team of organizers, who will in turn recruit and manage volunteer teams.

Develop multi-phase organizing plans for organizer and volunteer development in assigned area.

Oversee online and digital organizing program for volunteer engagement and voter contact.

Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.

Natural time management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities and tasks.

Proficient knowledge of a political campaign general organizing structure and VoteBuilder/VAN.

Willingness to work long hours, often including nights and weekends.

At least one previous cycle of campaign organizing experience.

Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.
